Not at all! We offer teen and adult classes for those wishing to learn the martial arts.
Are the kickboxing classes just for adults?
We allow mature teens to come to the kickboxing classes.
Are the kickboxing classes just for women?
The night time classes are co-ed. However, there are morning kickboxing classes just for women.
What is the age difference between Pee Wees, Juniors, and Adults?
In general, the age brackets are as follows: Pee Wees (4 to 7), Juniors (7 to 12), Teens (12-16) and Adults (16+).
Is age the only difference between Pee Wees, Juniors, Teens, and Adults?
No. There are other factors that we take into consideration, such as size and maturity level.
On the schedule it says there are different classes for beginners, intermediates, and advanced students. What determines which level you are?
Beginners are belts White, Yellow, and Orange. Intermediate are belts Purple, Blue, and Blue with a Green Stripe. Advanced are Green belt and above.
Do kids learn the same material as adults?
Eventually. We have 2 tracks: Junior and Adult. Pee Wee and Juniors are on the Junior track and so they learn less material at each belt. They will eventually get caught up to the adults before they test for black belt.
Is there a dress code, and if so what is it?
Yes there is a dress code. Students must where the gi (uniform) pants and belt to class at all times. Gi top is optional during class as long as the student wears a plain t-shirt without any writing or pictures on it. Students may also purchase a Shaolin shirt to wear to class if they would like.
Are there any required patches?
Yes, there are 3 required patches, a Shaolin school patch, an American Flag patch, and a Hawaiian patch.

Is testing rolled into the monthly tuition?
No.
How do you know if you are ready to test?
Juniors and Pee Wees get 2 stripes on their belt, indicating that they are getting close to testing. Teens and adults do not get stripes, however we will let you know if you are getting close.
Is testing done individually or in a group?
Testing is done in a group. If you or your child is ready to test you will receive a test letter that has the time, location, and test fee.
Who does the testing?
We bring in an instructor from another school in our system to test our students.
Do you have to wear the whole uniform (Gi top, bottem, and belt) to the test?
Yes. You will not be allowed to test without a full uniform and the required patches.
When do you need sparring gear?
Sparring gear is required at Purple belt. However, you can purchase it earlier and use it in class before then.
When can you wear a black gi?
You can start wearing a black gi at purple belt.
Can you mix and match the black and white gi pants?
Not until black belt.
How long does it take to get to black belt?
3 to 6 years.
